Guidelines for submission

The editors welcome articles and research notes for publication in future issues of The Malaysian Journal of  Languages and Linguistics. Articles that are submitted will be subject to a blind peer review process. Please adhere to the guidelines listed below when preparing submissions for the journal.

Initial Submissions

  • Use file in word 2007 or earlier formats.
  • Articles should be in English and between 6000 and 8000 words in length.
  • Articles should be original.
  • Each article should have an abstract of no more than 200 words. The abstract must include the main points of the article.
  • Provide a list of up to six key words.
  • Authors should ensure that all submissions, whether first or revised versions, are anonymous to facilitate blind reviewing. Authors’ names and institutional affiliations should appear only in the covering email message
  • See formatting and page layout  for manuscript preparation.
  • Manuscripts should conform to the latest version of the APA referencing and style guide
  • The submission must not have been previously published, nor should it be under consideration for publication elsewhere. We also have a strict policy against plagiarism. The plagiarism is checked through two methods: reviewer check and plagiarism prevention tool (TURNITIN). All submissions will be checked by online software before being sent to reviewers.

Special Issues

Proposals for special issues, accompanied by abstracts of individual papers, should be sent electronically to the Chief Editor.
